A month later.
I chose an apartment complex with a pool because thereâs nothing better than lazing the day away along a beautiful stretch of blue water with the sun warming my skin. Plus, it soothes my pregnancy nausea, and Iâm beginning to show now. My little belly presses against my bikini bottoms, but oddly, my boyfriends havenât realized.
I keep meaning to tell Frank and Dylan about my pregnancy, but it keeps getting away from me. Theyâll distract me with a gift, or kiss me in exactly the way I adore. Then, my good intentions go flying out the window, and soon, Iâm making love to them again.
But still, I know Iâm pregnant and I went for an ultrasound last week. The picture of our growing baby is hidden in my drawer, and even though the photo is a grainy black and white, my babyâs absolutely adorable. Plus, itâs my surprise for this weekend. Iâve planned an epic date for us on Friday night at an expensive restaurant where Iâm going to whip out the photo and then spill the beans.
Hopefully, Dylan and Frank will be excited. I know I am, thatâs for sure. Besides, I think they suspect at least a little bit. After all, my boobs are enormous and strain teasingly against my bikini top. Not only that, but my boyfriends have commented that they find me incredibly wild and hungry when weâre in bed together. It must be the pregnancy hormones turning me into a needy woman, but my men are more than happy to satisfy my cravings.
With a happy sigh, I lean back and close my eyes once again, my hand resting on my tummy. I canât wait until I can feel the baby moving, but itâs too early right now. Then unexpectedly, thereâs a flutter against my palm and my eyes fly open. Was that the child? Or was it just my lunch being digested?
Suddenly, a tall shadow looms over me. Ugh, whoâs blocking my sun? I shade my eyes with one hand and squint upwards.
âCould you move please? Iâm working on my tan.â
But then I blink a few times and realize that I recognize this man because itâs my ex-boyfriend Tyler! I havenât seen him in months now, not since we went out that one time after he got back in town. He texted me a few times after that, but I didnât reply. It just seemed kinder not to.
Now the boy looms over me, looking worse for the wear. Heâs always been thin, but at this moment heâs positively reedy and gaunt, not to mention unshaven. Thereâs a certain funky smell coming off him, and I wonder if heâs changed his socks and underwear in the last week.
âHello, April,â he lisps. âFancy meeting you here.â
I sit up. âHey Tyler. Actually, I live here, as you know. But whatâs going on? What are you doing? This pool is only for residents of my complex.â
Tyler doesnât say anything for a moment, instead letting his eyes roam over my body.
